Fees & Referrals

Session Fees

Our standard session fee is $300 per hour, with a fee of $320 per hour for weekend appointments.

The current recommended fee set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is higher than our standard rate. We have chosen to keep our fees below this benchmark to support accessibility while maintaining a high standard of care. For telehealth appointments, session fees are required to be paid in advance to confirm the booking.

Medicare

Some clients may be eligible for Medicare rebates with a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Cancellation Policy

Appointment times are set aside specifically for each client, allowing space for thoughtful preparation and continuity of care. When appointments are changed or missed at short notice, this time is often unable to be offered to others who may be waiting.

In line with other allied health services, the following cancellation policy supports fair access to appointments:

  • More than 48 hours’ notice: No fee applies

  • 48-24 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee may apply

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice, same-day cancellations, or missed appointments: The full session fee applies

For NDIS participants, the full session fee will be charged for missed appointments or late cancellations.

Please note that cancellation fees are not claimable through Medicare or private health insurance.

Private Health / NDIS

Private health rebates may be available depending on your level of cover. Rebates are processed directly through your health fund, and we recommend checking your eligibility with your provider prior to your appointment.

We welcome clients who are self-managed under the NDIS. Please note that a gap fee may apply, as NDIS funding rates may differ from our standard session fees. We encourage you to discuss this with your psychologist or our administrative team prior to commencing services so that fees and arrangements are clear.

We welcome referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians, allied health professionals, and other services.

Referrals can be sent via secure messaging, email, or fax. With client consent, we aim to maintain clear communication with referrers to support continuity of care.

Referrals

At Cultivate Psychology, we are committed to providing care within our areas of training and expertise. To ensure safety and integrity of service, there are certain presentations and requests that fall outside our scope of practice.

Service Exclusions:

  • Court reports, expert witness services, or documentation for legal proceedings

  • Family court assessments or child custody evaluations

  • Independent psychological assessments for litigation or immigration matters

  • Legal capacity or guardianship assessments

  • Crisis or emergency mental health services requiring acute intervention

  • Treatment for active substance dependence involving high-risk or illicit substances requiring specialist addiction services

  • Treatment for medically unstable or high-risk eating disorders

Where a person’s needs require a higher level of support, specialist services, or a forensic context, we will assist with referral to appropriate providers.

Our focus remains on therapeutic and capacity-building work within a collaborative, non-legal framework.
